2009 Winners Announced!
We are proud to announce the winners of the 2009 Refuge Photo Contest. More than 2,000 images taken by photographers from 44 states were submitted to this fourth annual Refuge Photo Contest, undeniable evidence that refuges are outstanding places to view wildlife and experience America’s diverse heritage.
Images from the contest will be added to the NWRA Refuge Image Library, a gallery of high quality photographs showcasing the rich and varied wildlife and habitat protected by our country’s National Wildlife Refuge System. The NWRA congratulates the winners for their spectacular images and important role in helping build visibility for the 100-million-acre National Wildlife Refuge System.
The NWRA wishes to thank ATP Oil and Gas Corporation for its contribution of a $5,000 first place cash prize and for underwriting the Refuge Photo Contest. In addition, special thanks to Southwest Airlines, Barbara's Bakery, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and Wild Bird Centers of America for providing prizes in recognition of the winning photographers. NWRA also thanks Zenfolio for hosting the contest on its elegant website, www.zenfolio.com.
